Medical Editor

Overview:  

BioPharm Communications is a leading medical communications and marketing agency specializing in the development and deployment of proprietary target marketing solutions for our clients. Our marketing solutions are widely used within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and have proven to drive brand awareness and preference through print and digital offerings.

 

BioPharm is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of Medical Editor. A Medical Editor is responsible for ensuring that medical communication materials are developed with a high level of quality regarding content, organization, clarity, accuracy, format, style, and consistency. A Medical Editor is skilled in and performs copyediting, fact-checking, proofreading, styling, and layout review. Experience with digital content development and email marketing a plus.

 

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization, including but not limited to:

  • Copyedit materials to ensure consistency and conformance with established grammar, punctuation, and spelling rules and adherence to AMA, client, and house style guidelines
  • Substantively edit complex medical and scientific documents and collaborate with colleagues to ensure that the materials are factually accurate
  • Proofread layout materials to ensure that they match approved copy exactly and that the format, organization, alignment, and spacing of copy and graphics are consistent and adhere to established standards
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure an overall high level of quality regarding content, organization, clarity, accuracy, format, style, and consistency; meet established timelines
  • Edit the following types of materials: print newsletters, emails, websites, banner ads
  • Identify copyrighted material that requires permission for reproduction; process permission request when required
  • Attend kickoff, status, and other job-related meetings
  • Incorporate client changes and work with the team to address medical-legal review feedback
  • Create and maintain brand style guides

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience copyediting in a pharmaceutical advertising agency, in-house agency, or medical publishing company preferred. Will consider candidates with copyediting experience in other fields
  • Working knowledge of AMA Manual of Style
  • Articulate oral and written communication skills essential
  • Good working knowledge of English grammar and usage
  • Curiosity/interest in medical topics essential
  • Strong skills in time management, prioritizing, organizing, researching, and problem solving, with attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Proficiency with standard software: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; Adobe Acrobat
Medical Writer 1

Our marketing solutions are widely used within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and have proven to drive brand awareness and preference through print and digital offerings.

 

BioPharm is looking for a qualified individual to fill the in-house position of Medical Writer. The candidate should have excellent writing and presentation skills, be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrate a command of various therapeutic areas. The candidate will be  responsible for ensuring that medical communication materials are developed with a high level of quality regarding content, organization, clarity, accuracy, format, style, and consistency.

 

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization, including but not limited to:

  • Quickly learn and become proficient with the BioPharm process for developing content
  • Understand medical-marketing strategies and content objectives for assigned accounts
  • Develop content that meets the stated objectives of the project, is within job specifications as defined by team/client, follows technical specifications, and is scientifically and medically accurate
  • Determine adequacy of references provided for projects and secure additional references or information as necessary
  • Accurately cite from references and appropriately underscore (or highlight) these references for medical/regulatory review
  • Address and incorporate edits requested by clients and KOL, as well as internal reviewers
  • Consistently deliver high-quality materials on time and on budget, working closely with cross-functional teams
  • Continually communicate project status to internal stakeholders through various formal and informal mechanisms
  • Attend kickoff, status, and other job-related meetings
  • Incorporate client changes and work with the team to address medical-legal review feedback

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong medical writing skills (including appropriate annotations) for development of manuscripts in prose and power point slides with graphics
  • 2+ years of experience as a medical communications medical writer
  • Solid understanding of bio-pharmaceutical industry including familiarity with the promotional review process
  • Ability to quickly learn new medical/marketing subject matter and correctly interpret medical data
  • Bachelor’s degree is mandatory, Master’s degree in science or higher required. PhD/PharmD preferred
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy with medical content, including referencing
  • Successful track-record of meeting deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent oral communication skills with clients, KOLs, and BioPharm team members, as well as strong listening and analytical skills
  • Strong skills in time management, prioritizing, organizing, researching, and problem solving, with attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines

BioPharm is looking for a qualified individual to fill the in-house position of Medical Writer. We are looking for a candidate with extensive digital marketing copywriting experience developing website, email and banner content and who can collaborate with cross functional partners to create novel and engaging work in a variety of media for a range of audiences. The candidate should have excellent writing and presentation skills, be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrate an understanding of various therapeutic areas.

  • Portfolio containing work samples that demonstrate creative thinking and exceptional writing skills
  • Work samples across a range of digital communications and media channels
  • Able to multitask in a fast paced environment while functioning as a member of a highly collaborative team
  • Solid understanding of bio-pharmaceutical industry including familiarity with the promotional review process
  • Ability to quickly learn new medical/marketing subject matter and correctly interpret medical data
